The Cathedral of St. Vitus, Wenceslas and Adalbert is rightly considered the most important cultural monument in our country. It is also perceived as a kind of symbol of statehood, as it is closely linked to Czech history. However, it was above all built as a house of prayer and worship, as the most important spiritual centre in our country, as its most important pilgrimage site. St. Vitus Cathedral is the place where the graves of five Czech patron saints and many other important relics of the Christian world are located.
This is why the cathedral extends a special invitation to believers and pilgrims – not only to participate in regular and festive liturgies, but also outside the liturgical services for individual prayer or as organised pilgrimage groups.
Pilgrims (individuals or families) who come to pray are admitted free of charge even during visiting hours for tourists. They just need to ask the custodians at the entrance to the cathedral (if necessary, contact cathedral staff on +420 724 558 889 or +420 734 648 727). An all-day exhibition of the Blessed Sacrament is held in the Eucharistic Chapel every Friday.
Organised groups of pilgrims must make an appointment at least three days in advance at katedrala@efara.cz. Groups of pilgrims accompanied by a Catholic priest may also celebrate Mass in the Eucharistic Chapel at the cathedral.
