The Metropolitan Chapter at St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague in cooperation with the Prague Castle Administration organizes in the Cathedral of St. Vitus, Václav and Vojtěch thirteenth year of the international music festival Svatovítské organ evenings. All are cordially invited!

The Royal Oratory – a private space for the most powerful of the kingdom
1. 7. 2024Even in the smaller rural churches located near the nobleman’s mansions, one specific architectural element can be seen near the main altar. It is the so-called oratory (=place of prayer), usually elevated in the form of an open emporium.

There is no substitute for the breathtaking atmosphere of the cathedral, construction of which began in the 10th century. But you can still join us online and get a glimpse of what lies behind the gates of Prague Castle, have a look inside the cathedral itself, and see some places that remain hidden from view on regular tours.
